DUKE UNIVERSITY

Daniel Prevost, '97, B.A. Environmental Science and Policy - Dan is a Senior Planner in the Cincinnati, Ohio office, where he is responsible for marketing Parsons' transportation efforts in Ohio and managing local projects. He has 9 years of experience in large-scale transportation planning projects for highways, bridges and transit systems, conducting alternatives analysis, land use and socioeconomic studies, and public outreach efforts. His ability to effectively communicate technical matters to the general public has helped build support for projects and move them forward through the public planning process. Prior to moving to Cincinnati in 2006, he worked for Parsons in New York City for four years and Fairfax, Virginia for three years. He also received a masters degree in Urban and Environmental Planning from the University of Virginia (2003) and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners.

GEORGE WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY

Melissa Deere, '07, M.A. Organizational Management - Melissa is a Division HR Manager in the Charlotte, NC office where she is responsible for human resources strategy and planning for the Technology Division. Prior to moving to Charlotte, NC in 2008, Melissa worked for Parsons in Washington, DC for four years on the TSSC-III Program with the Federal Aviation Administration. She received her Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification in 2006, and her bachelors degree in Development and Psychology from Appalachian State University (1999).

NORTH CAROLINA STATE UNIVERSITY

Christopher Ryon, ’97, B.S. Environmental Engineering - Chris is an environmental engineer with experience in surface water, sediment and aquatic biological sampling, environmental assessments and baseline surveys, stormwater retention design, remediation design and supervision, coordinating and conducting field tasks; and producing technical reports and presentations. Technical skills attained include proficiency in CAD, GIS, GPS and most Microsoft applications; project scoping, budgeting and scheduling. He currently works for our Water Resources Group in Austin, TX.

Keith Sabol, ’96, M.S. Management - Keith serves as Senior Project Manager and Principal Engineer of our Transportation Group, In Tacoma, WA. He currently manages a staff of  150 civil and structural engineers in the design and development of final construction plans and specifications for the Tacoma Narrows Suspension Bridge Project, a $600 million design-build contract. He has over 15 years of experience in all aspects of highway design and project management. He is experienced in managing conventional, design-bid-build as well as design-build projects. His qualifications range from functional designs for major investment studies to preparing final construction plans and documents.

SOUTHERN POLYTECHNIC STATE UNIVERSITY (formerly Southern Technical Institute)

Eric Altman, '65, Associate of Engineering, Architectural Engineering Technology - Eric is a Registered Architect and Certified Construction Manager plus being a state licensed electrical contractor, currently involved in Facility Condition Assessment and Facility Asset Management. Eric was the owner's representative Construction Manager for the Apollo/Saturn V Center at the Kennedy Space Center as well as a project manager for the $600M+ K-12 school expansion program in Orange County (Orlando), Florida.

TENNESSEE TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY

Philip Loftis, ’71, B.S. Industrial Engineering, '01 M.S. Engineering Management - Phil is a Project Manager in Huntsville, AL., and has been with Parsons for almost a year. He has 27 years experience as a Project Manager with the Government on projects including military ranges modernization, US chemical weapons disposal program, Russian chemical weapons disposal program, and the missile defense program. He also served in the US Army with 30 years of service on active duty and the Reserve with many assignments of leadership. His present position with Parsons is the Project Manager for the Automated Flight Service Stations project in support to the FAA.

 

TEXAS A&M UNIVERSITY

Rod Kelly, '61, B.S. & M.S., Civil Engineering – Rod is currently Vice President of our Transportation Group in Dallas, TX. He has managed a broad range of transportation planning and design projects including thoroughfare plans, site traffic analyses, roadway geometric designs, parking studies, bikeway plans, and trolley system assessments. He is currently Parsons’ leader on a team of consultants preparing Preliminary Engineering plans and the Environmental Impact Statement for a proposed 30-mile extension of Dallas' light rail system in the northwest quadrant of the transit authority's service area. He also led the firm's efforts on the design of the first 20 miles of light rail transit constructed in the Dallas area; Dallas' McKinney Avenue Historic Trolley feasibility study; a Downtown Circulator/Parking feasibility study in Chattanooga, Tennessee; and the Mid-America Mall Trolley Study in Memphis, Tennessee.

 

UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA

James Eriksen, ’88, B.S., Civil Engineering - Jim is a Project Engineer in Miami, FL. He has over 14 years of design experience on minor and major roadways as well as light rail transit systems. He has been Project Manager responsible for the initial project setup through final design on several highway design projects. Projects include: Project Manager responsible for final design of SR 809/Military Trail Project and Singer Island 3R Project in Palm Beach County, FL; Project Manager responsible for final design and PD&E re-evaluation of SR 869/S.W. 10th Street Project in Broward County, FL. Project Engineer responsible for development of light rail track alignment for Ybor City Trolley system in Tampa,FL, METRO Light Rail Study in Austin, TX, Charlotte Light Rail Design in Charlotte, NC, and Central Area Circulator Project in Chicago, IL.

 

UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND

Joshua Wade, ’93, B.S. Civil Engineering - Josh is a civil engineer with 9 years of experience in transportation planning, preliminary engineering and final design. While focusing on preliminary engineering, Josh’s knowledge of the planning process and final design ensures that he develops designs that respond to the project’s purpose and need, are technically feasible, minimize impacts to the surrounding environment, and are responsive to public comment. In addition to his engineering and planning duties he manages the CADD and GIS efforts of the Fairfax, Virginia office.

 

UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA - CHAPEL HILL

David Babcock, '76 B.S.,'77 M.S., Civil/Environmental Engineering - David is a Project Manager and Senior Environmental Engineer with nearly 30 years of experience in environmental analysis of remedial alternatives, feasibility evalutions and site remediation. He has worked to formulate and implement on-land and in-water remedies for over 50 different contaminated sites. Mr. Babcock is based in the Syracuse, NY office.

"I enjoy the people I work with at Parsons, the clients and the challenging projects. When I entered consulting following graduate school, I thought I would stay a few years to gain valuable experience and then move on. Instead, I have stayed in consulting and over half of my career has been spent here at Parsons. I have worked on many challenging site remediation projects. I'm currently working on ways to measure sedimentation and minimize methylation of mercury in a deep water lake system as part of a very large sediment remediation project here in Central New York."

 

UNIVERSITY OF OKLAHOMA

Rick Conner, ’80 B.S. Environmental Design (Architecture) - Rick is a Registered Architect and Principle Project Manager with over 25 years experience in design and construction program management. Projects have included hotels, prisons, hospitals, schools, chemical processing plants and research facilities for both private and government sector clients. Rick's current assignment is Western Regional Manager for the United States Postal Service program in Denver, CO.

 

UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS

Marcel Dulay,’96, M.S., Environmental Engineering - Marcel began his career with Parsons in 1996. He has over 8 years experience in environmental projects including treatment of water and wastewater; sewer system design, landfill design; hazardous waste management; environmental studies; watershed studies; and construction. He is experienced and proficient with computers including GIS, AutoCAD, HYDRA, water quality-modeling software, Avenue script, and process control logic programming. Marcel is the current project manager for a Water and Wastewater Master Plan for Nuevo Laredo, Mexico. He has done extensive work in Latin America and along the U.S. Mexico Border. Another project is the Indian Reservation of Khanawake, Ontario Canada, developing a pilot SCADA system with the primary objectives being providing reliable process control infrastructure for critical process units.

Elliott Mandel, ’84, B.S. and ’89 M.S., Civil Engineering - Elliot is a Project Manager with more than 18 years of experience with bridge, rail, transit, highway and health facility projects. Currently Elliot is the Program Manager for facility renovation projects at the National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, MD. He is involved with the design and construction management of health research facilities including laboratories and vivariums.

 

UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIA

G. Robert Joseph, '84, Masters in Business Administration - Rob is an operations manager for our Infrastructure & Technology Group, with 24 years of experience in finance, general management and business development on projects from California to Baghdad. Rob has worked on projects as wide-ranging as television stations, hydropower plants, water infrastructure and even waste-to-energy plants. Rob has a liberal-arts undergraduate degree from Northwestern, pointing up the fact that Parsons seeks people from diverse backgrounds, not just those with engineering degrees.

VIRGINIA MILITARY INSTITUTE

Parke Smith, ’79, B.S. Civil Engineering, '80 MS, Facilities Management from The Air Force Institute of Technology - Parke is a registered professional engineer and a Project Manager for Parsons Commercial Technology Group in the Houston,Texas office. Parke joined Parsons after a 20-year career in Air Force Civil Engineering and now has eight additional years of project and program management experience involving the design and construction of educational facilities, police and fire stations and other municipal buildings. He was a project manager for the $600M+ K-12 school bond program in Orlando, Florida, program manager for the $84.5M K-12 school bond program in Durango, Colorado and is now wrapping up a program management effort for the $1.2B Public Building Commission program in Chicago, Illinois

VIRGINIA POLYTECHNIC INSTITUTE AND STATE UNIVERSITY

Pat Brooks, '94 B.S. Agricultural Engineering, '96 M.S. Environmental Engineering - Pat is Vice President and Manager for the Mid-Atlantic Sector of our Water and Infrastructure Group, located in Fairfax, VA. Pat has over 14 years of experience in municipal and industrial infrastructure projects, specializing in the evaluation, design and construction of wastewater treatment facilities and related municipal infrastructure projects. Pat is a registered Professional Engineer, and has worked for Parsons for over 8 years.

Matthew Wagner, ’00, BS, Civil Engineering (’01 MS from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign)- Matt is a bridge engineer for Parsons Transportation Group in the New York City office with experience in long span bridges. He has six years of structural engineering experience involving the design, analysis, and inspection of major suspension and cable stayed bridges. He was a design engineer for several new bridges including the US20 tied-arch bridge in Iowa and the A25 cable stayed bridge in Montreal. Matt has also been the design engineer on retrofit/rehabilitation projects of such famous bridges as the Mackinac Bridge in Michigan, the Tagus River Bridge in Portugal, and the Verrazano Narrows, Brooklyn and George Washington Bridges in New York City.

"As a structural engineer, the types of bridges we design at Parsons afford me technical challenges second to none. It is very exciting and gratifying to have worked on the design of the first two suspension bridges to be built in the U.S. in the past 25 years, plus a myriad of other bridge projects including a tied arch and a cable stayed."

Jamie Fettig, '95 BS Environmental Science, '98 MS Environmental Engineering - Jamie is a Project Manager and Lead Process Engineer for the Wastewater Practice Group in the Technology Division of the Parsons Commercial Technology Group. Jamie is an expert in the planning, testing, design and construction of industrial wastewater and groundwater treatment systems and has worked on both domestic and international projects, including those in Ireland, Singapore, Canada, China and the Philippines. Jamie is located in the Syracuse, New York office and has worked for Parsons since graduating from Virginia Tech ten years ago.

The opportunity to see these complex projects through - from first conception all the way to startup and commissioning - can be a very rewarding experience."
