MIAMI UNIVERSITY (OXFORD OHIO)

Natalie Granum, ’05, B.S. Management Engineering, Specializing in Environmental Science - Natalie is a Project Engineer in the Parsons Fairfax, VA office. Her experience began in Parsons Infrastructure and Technology where she worked on various US EPA projects. Now with Parsons Water and Infrastructure her experience includes evaluation, design and construction of wastewater facility facilities.

MICHIGAN STATE

Sajid Iqbal, M.S., Civil Engineering – Sajid is a Project Manager/Principal Engineer with 20 years experience working on transportation projects including feasibility studies, preliminary and final design, construction support services, transportation systems management (TSM) study. These projects have required close coordination with a full range of utility companies, railroad and roadway operating agencies, including Amtrak, NJ Transit, MTA New York City Transit.

William Plaehn, ’96, M.S., Environmental Engineering – Bill is responsible for characterizing hazardous wastes sites, evaluating remedial alternatives, designing remedial actions, and overseeing remedial action implementation including the operation, maintenance, and monitoring of remediation systems. He uses statistical analyses and a risk-based approach to determine the need for and appropriate level of remediation. His experience also includes site characterization, bench- and pilot-scale treatability testing, design and installation of remediation systems, system startup, operation and maintenance (O&M) support, and cost estimating. Bill received his B.S. in Civil Engineering in 1992 from Purdue University.

Bruce Shelton, B.S., Civil Engineering - Bruce has over 25 years of experience including engineering, design coordination, task and project management, and construction of US Department of Energy Facilities and industrial and municipal waste treatment projects. As a Process Engineer, his design experience has included areas of hydraulic design, systems design, equipment selection, material handling, and permitting. As a Project Manager his experience encompasses managing all aspects, technical and contractual, of various types of projects ranging in constructed value from $2 through $150 million. As Vice President & Program Manager in Pasadena, CA, Bruce is currently responsible for the studies, Title II design and Title III design support for the DOE National Ignition Facility with a constructed value of $3.5 billion, which is the latest in a series of high powered laser facilities for research in inertial confinement fusion and to support verification in the United States Stockpile Stewardship Program at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.

Ashish Guha, '01, M.S., Construction Management - Ashish is a Project Manager with expertise in HealthCare Construction Management. He has worked closely with OSHPD, the official agency that enforces California Building Standards for Hopsitals in California. He specialises in coordinating with OSHPD on Deferred Submittal Approvals, Medical Equipment Installation, and implementing SB1953 Seismic Retrofit Program. Currently he is coordinating the construction phase of Port of Long Beach's first LEED Certified Building.

PURDUE UNIVERSITY

Robert Magliola, ’83, B.S., & ’84, M.S., Civil Engineering – Robert is a Chief Structural Engineer for our Transportation Group in Chicago, IL, with experience in continuous and simple span bridge design, encompassing steel composite, pre-stressed concrete I-beam, concrete arch, and post-tensioned box construction.  Projects include the design of 20 bridges for the M-6 Grand Rapids South Beltline, and the design of piers with pile-supported waterline footings for the Surabaya Madura Bridge in Indonesia (4,324-foot bridge of cantilever segmental construction).

UNIVERSITY OF NOTRE DAME

Jacqueline Travers, ’90 B.S. Chemical Engineering, B.A. English, ’94 M.S. Environmental Engineering (University of Texas at Austin) – Jacqueline has over 15 years experience conducting hazardous waste and radiological site investigations; CERCLA remedial design, remedial action oversight, RI/FS and EE/CA studies; radiation surveys; remedial technology screening and evaluation; industrial wastewater investigations and treatment technology selection. She has been responsible for the planning and implementation groundwater pilot studies including the use of biowalls and reactive iron for the removal of chlorinated solvents from groundwater. She has also led radiological investigations including final status surveys conducted in accordance with MARSSIM and the derivation of radiological clean up goals using RESRAD modeling software.

Leo Montroy, ’73 Ph.D., Biology- Leo attended the University of Notre Dame after receiving a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Chemistry from the University of Windsor, Windsor Canada. His doctoral research was funded by the Atomic Energy Commission (predecessor of the Department of Energy) and the NASA, and was conducted at the University of Notre Dame Environmental Research Center (UNDERC) in northern Wisconsin. His work involved analysis of nutrient cycling in bog lakes and its impact on phytoplankton and zooplankton in these unique lakes. His 30+ years in the environmental consulting field has included exciting biological and engineering challenges, including environmental and engineering assessment activities for the US Air Force, the Department of Energy, US Coast Guard, US Army, and many other federal agencies. His recent work involves research and development activities for the detection of unexploded ordnance, and work for the US Army Corps of Engineers at US Army installations across the country.

 

UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN

James Lashua, ’69. B.S. Civil Engineering - James has managed projects in pulp & paper, industrial, electric utility and telecommunications industries and has designed and installed projects at two polymer fiber plants in Wilmington, NC and Charleston, SC. He was mechanical project engineer for 1000 ton per day pulp machine design including building, chests, pumps, machine, pulp cutter, installation, and start-up. He is currently Project Manager for several telecommunication projects with Parsons Communications Group in Charlotte, NC.

Lawrence E. Williams, B.S. Civil Engineering - Mr. Williams has over ten years experience as a traffic engineer and transportation planner, including experience on several Design Build projects. His work is in the areas of traffic signal design, signing and striping plans, maintenance of traffic plans, traffic impact studies, travel demand forecasting and preliminary engineering. He is also responsible for air and noise modeling work on environmental assessment projects. He has been with Parsons since 1997 and is currently working for our Transportation Group in Minneapolis as an Associate Transportation Engineer.
